In her wonderful book, The Wealthy Spirit, Chellie Campbell describes how, when she was a girl, her mother taught her to play “The Glad Game.” On days when Chellie came home from school complaining about something – a bully on the playground, a harsh teacher, a skinned knee, or difficult homework – Chellie’s mom would hug her, kiss away her tears, and then suggest, “OK, enough complaining. Let’s play ‘The Glad Game.’”
“The Glad Game” is another name for a Gratitude List. The Glad Game helps you focus on what’s right in your world today, instead of what’s wrong. Chellie’s mom was a very wise woman, teaching her that no matter what your troubles, there are still plenty of things to be grateful for: a sunny day, good food to eat, a loving family, a house to live in, a family pet to love, a handful of friends to enjoy, and much, much more.
Chellie would follow her mother’s suggestion:
“I’m glad I have you as my mom.”
“I’m glad the weekend is almost here.”
“I’m glad I have some nice clothes to wear to school.”
“I’m glad I don’t have to share my room with my sister anymore.”
“I’m glad I get to watch TV when I finish my homework.”
“I’m glad we have pie for dessert.”
Playing “The Glad Game” is a terrific way to change your attitude in a hurry. We all slip into self-pity once in a while – after all, we’re only human. The important thing is to cut the pity-party short and shift into gratitude. An attitude of gratitude will get you much farther in life than complaining and self-pity. Try it and see.
This is one of many short chapters in Learning to Dance in the Rain…The Power of Gratitude.
Dancing in the rain isn’t something that most of us are born knowing how to do. We learn it. We learn it from others; we learn it from Life. The more we dance, the better we get at it. With practice, dancing in the rain becomes almost automatic. We no longer seek to run from storms…instead, we toss back our heads, throw out our arms, pick up our feet, and DANCE!
I love this book! The inspirational stories, wonderful quotes and original poetry by BJ Gallagher can bring life changing insights during a time we need it most! To watch our movie or see inside the book, click here.Learning to Dance in the Rain
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Super Affiliate! Corny, but “super affiliate” is the new buzzword for affiliates who are both ambitious and successful at affiliate marketing. There are wild claims online about affiliate marketing: Make Millions Overnight! Never Work Again! Unfortunately, these claims are usually false. To go from being a plain affiliate to super affiliate takes a lot of work. In short, you need to be an affiliate of steel.
The vast majority of affiliate marketing sites online are run by people who have no great interest in turning a huge profit. For example, you’ll find thousands of blogs where people put up a few Amazon listings and/or Google links on the off chance that a passing browser will click on them. That’s all well and good, but this is no way to make a dent in the affiliate marketing game. To be a super affiliate, you need to treat affiliate marketing as a job, not just something that you do on the side to put a couple of bucks in your pocket.
There is a misconception that affiliate marketing is not a real business. After all, the affiliate is not putting out a product. This is patently false. Even though an affiliate marketer is not manufacturing a product, he or she is still offering the product up for sale. An affiliate marketer still needs to be in charge of search engine optimization, custom content, quality web design, financial management, and everything else that goes into running a successful e-business. As with any business, an affiliate marketing plan is only as strong as the amount of work you put into it.
A super affiliate will be able to turn as hefty a profit as a standard business—several sales a day on a number of different fronts. Remember, successful affiliate marketers don’t necessarily stop at one site. They set up a variety of affiliate sites with a good web address, quality web design, and lucrative affiliate marketing opportunities. Additionally, once you start selling at an accelerated rate, some affiliate programs will promote you from regular affiliate to super affiliate. If you start sending sales and traffic to a business, they will reward you with better terms.
This isn’t an easy proposition, but it is possible. Make sure that an affiliate program has a corresponding super affiliate program in place—better terms for more sales. Even if they don’t, an affiliate with good terms up front can really pay off if you’re able to make a several sales a month. Affiliate programs with great terms are also sometimes referred to as super affiliates. Find these and you know you’ll have a good marketing in place at the start. For more information visit:

Inspiration 365 Days A Year
From: Simple Truths
Let me put it as a fact: We buy most things not because we need them but because we want them. Sure you buy food because you need to eat. But if you buy anything other than generic foodstuffs, you are paying extra money to satisfy your wants. Housing? Yes, you need shelter. But you don’t need that Mediterranean duplex you’ve had your eye on. Clothing? Loin cloths went out years ago. Rule: The secret to selling is to create in your prospect a desire to buy that is so strong that it feels like a need. Here’s how:
1. To make a sale, you need to make a PROMISE. And that promise has to relate to something your prospect WANTS. If you owned a butcher shop, it wouldn’t do much good to put a sign on your window that said, “Dead Cow Meat for Sale.” If you were even dimly aware of the psychology of selling, you’d probably do something more like, “Prime USDA Choice Steak Now On Sale.” You’ve got to make a promise. And the promise should be big enough and strong enough to attract a lukewarm prospect. Remember, success happens at the margins. It is easy to sell those who are predisposed to buy what you’re selling. It is impossible to sell those who are steadfast against it. The difference between mediocrity and success lies in between – in selling those who are neither pre-sold nor dead set against…the people in the margin.
2. To make your promise vivid, transform it into a PICTURE. If, for example, you were selling chocolate cake, you might want to show your prospect a picture of the cake itself, with a slice overturned and a nice tall glass of milk or cup of coffee on the side. If you were selling something more complicated than cake (such as membership in a music club), you would need to create a subtler, more sophisticated picture (one in which the prospect sees himself enjoying and benefiting from the music).
3. To advance your selling effort, you need to make certain PROPOSITIONS or claims. If cake were the product, you might claim that it is light and sweet or thick and creamy.
4. You would then need to support such claims with PROOF. Perhaps your cake is made with only natural ingredients, it won the Betty Crocker award for delectability, etc. People Buy Things for Emotional Reasons.
To Sell Things, You Need To Stimulate Those Emotions. To stimulate your prospect’s feelings, present not the FEATURES of the product/service, but its BENEFITS. Tell your prospect how the product/service will help him. Show him how that will happen. For example, the features of a particular sports car might include power steering, an oversized engine and an advanced breaking system. The benefits would be the ability to take a tight corner, to hit 60-miles-an-hour in five seconds, and to stop on a dime. By focusing on what’s in it for the prospective driver – and not what’s in the car itself – you can evoke the deeper feelings (I want to be seen as powerful, sexy, etc.) needed to make the sale.
As I said in the beginning of this article, this is a very brief introduction to a very important area of knowledge. No matter what you do in life, you will need the skills to sell. Direct marketing skills are some of the best.

“What new ideas have you heard about leadership?” “I have found that I hold myself more accountable to be a good example”, and “I found the best responses and results came when team members were regularly acknowledged, praised and motivated on an individual basis! Something as simple as a ˜Good morning or Good evening! every day to the front-line staff from the Department Head, knowing your teams names and a bit about them personally made each one feel great.”
Well, today I have a message from the archives to share with you from The Essence of Leadership about energy. Enjoy!
Some people think leaders are born. I don’t. I think leadership skills can be honed if we understand our strengths and weaknesses, and this understanding starts by knowing what to look for. The Essence of Leadership
That’s what is all about. I’ve tried to capture the most important qualities of a leader by sharing a few of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
I’ve been very fortunate in meeting and working with many great leaders in my thirty years as an entrepreneur. I’ve also loved reading biographies of successful entrepreneurs and great leaders. Their insights about choices they made, their values, their passion for serving their customers, their courage, their ability to overcome adversity…these all made lasting impressions on me.
What are some of the qualities that separate the good from the great leaders? Here’s a short excerpt from The Essence of Leadership titled “Manage Your Energy” that I hope you’ll enjoy.
Not long ago, I had the opportunity to spend some time with best selling author John Maxwell. The conversation turned to how managing your energy can be one of the keys to leadership. John felt that leadership and energy were joined at the hip. It is impossible to have one without the other. He said that it all starts with knowing yourself, knowing your limitations, and knowing when you perform best. The key, for him, is to schedule his most crucial activities when his energy levels are at their peak. John, for example, schedules his important meetings and his writing time in the mornings when he feels the most energized. Activities of less urgency are scheduled in the afternoons.
Also, as he winds down at home in the evenings, he saves an hour or two for writing letters and for light reading. Of course, he said, a schedule doesn’t always cooperate, but following this general philosophy has served him well.
Speaker and author, Jim Cathcart, says that to be at your best, find your zone of optimum velocity by observing the pace and intensity at which you perform best. This is the zone at which you are most creative, unstressed, happy and productive.
Above the zone: First you experience stress and frustration, then anxiety, and finally burnout. At this level you are overwhelming yourself with too much to accomplish at one time. Lighten up a bit to get back on track.
In the zone: You are at your best. Not stressed, going with the flow of work naturally, productive and self-assured, challenged but not overwhelmed, motivated and able to roll with problems.
Below the zone: First you experience boredom, then apathy, and finally depression. You feel useless and artificial; self-esteem suffers. Bite off more and take on a greater challenge to get back on track.
For me the key to managing my energy is exercise. It almost sounds too simple to be important, however, without exercise my energy levels and my attitude “take a hit.”
Lastly, protecting and replenishing your emotional energy is critical for every leader. Mira Kirshenbaum, in her book The Emotional Energy Factor, offers a refreshing, down-to-earth approach:
“First, you plug the leaks: learn to recognize what drains your energy – life situations, toxic people, or habits such as worry, indecision or guilt. Second, you identify what fills your tank – pleasure, prayer, anticipation, or fun – and give yourself more.”
